A great belief finally accomplished, but it’s still a long way to go. Jet Li as the ambassador of IWUF gave a speech to promote Wushu and Taiji in United Nations and New York Times Square. Jet believes Taiji is a representation of wushu. It is not only a healthy exercise, but also learning Yin Yang philosophy as well as heaven and earth, peace and balance. He strongly believes that practicing wushu can make a person happier and healthier.
He produced a short film Gong Shou Dao with his best friends Jack Ma, and A-List Kung Fu Stars to dedicate to all martial artists who had been doing this for many years. GSD is derived from and influenced by Taiji, Kung Fu, and Martial Arts. The meaning represented in Chinese characters roughly translate into “Martial Art” that is based on “Guard and Defense”.
The executive producer Jet Li mentioned, “We all have the same dream with the aim to promote China’s excellent traditional culture and a tribute to the predecessors in the field of Taiji, Kung Fu and Martial Arts. The timing seems to be perfect and everyone involved in this project were so enthusiastic in making it happen.”
In this GSD behind the scenes, you can see Jet directing the film and personally guiding the martial arts choreography. Check the amazing video now!
“Jet wishes GSD can be part of Olympics”. Perhaps this dream may not be easy to accomplish but through all the efforts and support from everyone, Jet believes it will be possible. He hopes to inspire the generations to come in his effort through this sport.
Everyone knows Jet is passionate about Buddhism where he had spent lots of time trying to achieve balance. He has been to many places to meditate such as Bhutan, Nepal, SiChuan etc. In Bhutan, he was alone for 7 days and sat in 8-12 hours of meditation each day, without talking to anyone else. It’s hard to express it in words. While the most memorable part in Nepal was that he saw double rainbows at the end of his retreat, the lamas told him that they have not seen a double rainbow for 15 years. Jet felt it must be an auspicious sign and was really excited the moment he saw it.
When he founded Taiji Zen with Jack Ma, they have the same opinion, which is to share his great Taiji and Yin Yang philosophy to people. It’s the spirits of Taiji Zen, “appreciate, to bear and share happiness.”
Jet and his daughters were the survivors in tsunami 2004. He saw many people lost their homeland, families, suffered from Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). So he founded One Foundation in 2007, focusing on disaster relief, children’s welfare, and charity support & innovation, and now it benefitted more than 9 million people in China.
Following the path of Jet, his daughter Jane and Jada are also involved in social work and charity. Jane was invited as a guest speaker in “The Next She-Era Generation” and Jada is involved in project for the Hearing impair for children in China. As part of their upbringings, Jet always encouraged them to contribute to the society.
Let’s check out the precious moments of Jet back in 2017 in case you missed it!
