Master Wong was born in Vietnam before he went to England. As a Chinese-Vietnamese descendant, it was a hard time during his childhood and he got a lot of bullies back home during the 70s.
25 years ago, he learnt traditional martial arts to protect himself and his families. He later found out there was more around wushu, so he started to dig into the wushu philosophies, to understand about body, mind, spirit, through Yin Yang.
“I learn Wing Chun for close combat, understanding Jeet Kune Do as a body weapon. Most importantly I used Taiji to balance the mind and spirit to against the violence.” He said.
Like many martial arts practitioners, Master Wong was inspired by Bruce Lee, he is now trying to help the communities all over the world. He founded Master Wong System in 1992, it is his sincere desire for all of his students worldwide to gain the skills they need and improve the quality of their lives, by following the principles of his system. All of his YouTube videos give an insight into the systems he teaches, from instructional videos to funny scenario based videos. You can also find him on his Facebook and Instagram.
“I think the impact is when you come to see them, even though they haven’t got anything, they are very happy to give you anything, give you the love, and give you all the time you need with them, they are very happy kids. I’m really appreciated with this, so I want to help them more and try to give them a better life. I feel so sad when I see the kids with little injuries on them, and they don’t have enough nutrition here in Kenya, I really want to help them, you will never know the feelings when you have everything you need in your life.
Teaching them some basic self defense can make them stronger and have more confidence, so if somebody tries to hurt them, they can use the self defense techniques to protect themselves.
I encourage more volunteers to come to Kenya with H Giving to help more people here. Most of the time, people don’t know where their donations go to, so it’s really important for you to come here and see from your own eyes that how’s the charity working, where does the money go, it can make you more understanding and more humble when you go back home. Even small amount of donations also affect the project, your little help can help them have a better life!” said Master Wong.
