Hometown hero Kai-Kuei Hsu brings home a gold medal for Chinese Taipei today in the Men’s Nanquan & Nangun combined at the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade.
“This gold medal is really meaningful for me, Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade will be my last wushu competition before I retire as an athlete, and I will not forget this day.” Hsu replied after the competition.
Beside all the support from coach and wushu community within these 13 years, the most important people that had supported him all the journey are his parents. “I don’t have time for my father during Father’s Day, but this gold medal I wish to give it to my dad!”
After the competition, he planned to become Taiwan wu shu coach to train the next wushu star. “Athlete will have to retire someday, and this is the time and chance for me to contribute to my own country.” Hsu said.
